Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist/Research Nurse to join our team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work as an integral part of our established specialist Lung Cancer Nursing Team, providing specialist nursing care to patients and their families diagnosed with Lung cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with Lung cancer, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Work closely with acute colleagues, palliative care, and acute oncology teams to ensure seamless care for patients.
  • Develop and implement education programs for ward nursing teams and wider multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of the Lung cancer service to improve and maintain standards of patient care.
  • Collaborate with local and regional centers to foster links and ensure seamless care for patients.
Requirements
  • First Level Registration as a Nurse.
  • Post-registration education in relevant specialty, Oncology/Palliative care cancer qualification/module.
  • Teaching/Mentoring Certificate or skills.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, respecting the skills and contributions of others.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and details while maintaining high standards.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant degree in cancer or palliative care, or working towards.
  • National Advance Communications Skills Course or willingness to undertake.
  • Experience of service development and change management.
  • Awareness of key policies and national recommendations relating to Lung cancer and the broader cancer, palliative, and end-of-life care agenda.
