Job Summary

The post holder will work as an integral part of the established specialist Lung Cancer Nursing Team supporting adult patients with a Lung cancer diagnosis referred to Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

Main Responsibilities
  • Organize and manage a caseload of patients, communicating with patients, and their family, assessing their needs and providing relevant support, information, education, and advice as required.
  • Provide a service to patients from diagnosis and throughout the course of their disease and for those living with and beyond their cancer diagnosis.
  • Make appropriate and comprehensive referrals to services such as Specialist Palliative Care, Macmillan Specialist Dietitians and community teams.
  • Support the delivery of a comprehensive nurse-led service including nurse-led clinics.
  • Work closely with acute colleagues and form part of a wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and act as a specialist resource for all patients diagnosed with Lung cancer.

  • First Level Registration
  • Post-registration education in relevant specialty, Oncology/Palliative care cancer qualification/module
  • Teaching/Mentoring Certificate/skills
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Ability to provide education to ward nursing teams, wider MDTs
  • Commitment to clinical audit, research, and evidence-based practice
