About the Role

We are seeking an experienced General Counsel to join our tight-knit UK-based team at JMC Legal Recruitment. As a key member of our senior management team, you will be responsible for overseeing all legal aspects of our company, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and advising the executive team on legal matters.

You will play a crucial role in shaping our company's legal strategy and safeguarding its interests in a rapidly evolving financial landscape. Your primary focus will be on managing corporate legal matters and implementing FCA-driven policies that align with our company's strategic objectives.

You will work closely with our UK senior management team, Compliance team, and various departments across the organisation, including HR, Security, Product, and Engineering. Your expertise will be instrumental in negotiating and drafting commercial agreements with technology partners and vendors, as well as advising on legal risks associated with commercial transactions.

In addition to providing legal counsel on a wide range of issues, you will be expected to anticipate potential legal challenges and proactively address them to protect our company's interests. This is a hands-on role that requires a strategic thinker with the ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory environments while fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements
  • UK Qualified lawyer from a Top 10 law firm, 8-15 PQE
  • Experience advising and/or working for broker-dealers with a solid understanding of UK securities laws.
  • Experience working with regulators or in a regulated business environment is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
