Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Band 8a physiotherapist to join our team in a part-time role. The post holder will work closely with the Consultant Allied Health Professional (AHP) in Neuromuscular Diseases, sitting within the Rare Mitochondrial Disorders Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). This is a fixed-term post with a duration of 23 months.

Main Responsibilities

  • To work with the Consultant AHP in Neuromuscular Diseases to lead the assessment and innovative treatment of patients with spasticity, including those with complex presentations.
  • To work closely with neurologists, neuromuscular nurses, and allied health professionals to provide expert physiotherapy opinion on patient management.
  • To work as an autonomous practitioner and be responsible for own workload, reporting to the Consultant AHP in Neuromuscular Diseases as necessary.
  • To contribute to the professional development and training of other AHPs.
  • To clinically develop senior physiotherapists and the MDT in the management of neuromuscular diseases.
  • To promote an interdisciplinary service ensuring holistic client-centered care.
  • To work with the Consultant AHP in Neuromuscular Diseases for the operational management of the Neuromuscular Physiotherapy service, including formulation and implementation of policies and policy changes.
