About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Childcare Solicitor to join our team at Law Absolute Limited. As a Childcare Solicitor, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and representation in childcare matters, including public law care proceedings, adoption, and child protection and fostering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advice and representation in childcare matters, including public law care proceedings, adoption, and child protection and fostering
  • Carry a caseload of matters in proceedings, pre-proceeding, and complex matters with minimal supervision
  • Undertake advocacy on behalf of the Council in relevant courts and tribunals and inquiries as may be required
  • Draft all legal documents as required in the preparation of Court proceedings
  • Manage the relationship with external legal advisors appointed in connection with provision of legal advice related to the council
  • Support junior legal colleagues in their work and role model the quality of legal work required
About You

The successful Childcare Solicitor will be an admitted Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX of England and Wales with a current practising certificate. You will be ambitious, a team player, driven by delivering a high-quality service, and have a positive attitude towards building relationships with social workers and your wider team. It is essential that you are committed to this area of law and have a genuine enthusiasm for the work. The ability to work under pressure is imperative, be self-motivated, and able to work to deadlines.

The Council values delivering a great service to their clients and those employed by the council must demonstrate the ability to take responsibility, be kind, always willing to learn, and exhibit equality and integrity in all your actions.

Previous childcare local authority experience is desirable. You will also need to be comfortable undertaking some advocacy.
