Position Overview
Are you a seasoned Neonatal Nurse eager to elevate your career and enhance the experiences of neonates and their families? If you envision innovative advancements in Neonatal Services, this opportunity is tailored for you.
Our established Special Care Unit and Neonatal Outreach team are transitioning towards becoming a Local Neonatal Unit, presenting a unique chance for professional growth.
If you are driven, enthusiastic, and ready to lead transformative changes that positively impact patient and staff experiences, we invite you to consider this role. Candidates must be registered Children's Nurses with significant post-registration experience in acute care settings at Band 7 level, alongside qualifications in Neonatal care.
Flexibility in work hours is essential to accommodate the needs of our service, with a work plan and rota developed collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will spearhead the Neonatal team, collaborating with existing Matron roles and the Associate Director of Nursing for Children and Young People (CYP) Services, as well as the Divisional Management and Trust Leadership Team. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring that neonates receive exemplary care and experiences at our facility. Prioritizing staff morale and wellbeing, along with improving outcomes for children and young people, will be fundamental to your role.
We seek highly motivated and experienced Children's Nurses with exceptional communication skills and a proven track record in managing change. You will provide senior nursing leadership and support across Neonatal services within the Trust, ensuring seamless care for neonates.
Your primary focus will be on the ongoing coordination and enhancement of services, working closely with Band 7 Ward Managers and Specialist Nurses to uphold robust clinical governance and quality assurance.
About Our Organization
We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and diverse workforce. Our aim is to reflect the communities we serve and cultivate a culture where everyone can thrive. We welcome applications from individuals of various backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences to enrich our Trust and make it an exceptional workplace.
As an NHS Employee, you may interact with vulnerable service users. We strongly advocate for our staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and receive annual flu vaccinations to safeguard the health and safety of our patients and colleagues.
Job Duties
1. Ensure the coordination of safe and equitable staffing levels in collaboration with clinic and ward managers, considering the specific needs of each area while being mindful of financial implications.
2. Conduct daily rounds in clinical areas to facilitate communication with patients, families, and staff, while observing practices and promoting effective infection control standards.
3. Perform weekly assessments with clinic and ward managers to evaluate patient care across clinical areas.
4. Oversee the timely management of outpatient clinic services across Trust sites.
5. Maintain visibility and approachability for nursing staff, children, families, and the public to foster open communication and effective care assessments.
6. Ensure evidence-based practices are followed, developing and implementing clinical guidelines in line with the scope of practice.
7. Lead the monitoring of clinical standards, including care observations and patient feedback, particularly when concerns arise.
8. Ensure annual assessments of clinical skills are conducted in all neonatal areas in collaboration with ward managers and Practice Educators.
9. Uphold Infection Control policies and conduct training sessions for staff in partnership with the Infection Control Team.
10. Engage clinically in Neonatal areas as needed, serving as an expert resource and leadership role model.
