London, Greater London, United Kingdom North West London Pathology Full time

Position Overview

North West London Pathology (NWLP) is seeking to appoint four band 5 Clinical Laboratory Scientists to enhance the Point of Care Testing (POCT) service across multiple partner trusts. The POCT team delivers a comprehensive service to several hospitals, overseeing the governance of numerous POCT devices and providing training to a wide array of clinical personnel.

Our healthcare facilities encompass a variety of clinical services, including surgical procedures, general medical care, trauma response, adult and pediatric emergency services, intensive care, and ophthalmology, each with unique POCT requirements. The successful candidates will be integrated into a supportive and experienced team comprising senior laboratory scientists, a POCT manager, and a clinical lead.

These roles will involve rotation among various sites, allowing the successful candidates to gain insights into the service, engage in diverse technical and quality management responsibilities, and work towards standardizing the service in preparation for future assessments. Candidates should demonstrate initiative and possess strong communication and organizational capabilities. While prior POCT experience is not a prerequisite, a solid understanding of POCT-related issues is essential, thus applications are welcomed from qualified laboratory scientists across various disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

These positions present an excellent opportunity for laboratory scientists to showcase their technical, organizational, and leadership abilities as they contribute to the standardization of the POCT service and witness the positive effects of their efforts in clinical settings. The post holders will conduct in-person training sessions for clinical staff, perform technical validations of new devices, audit clinical environments, and manage external quality assessment performance. Therefore, the ideal candidates must be engaging, detail-oriented, and thrive in a dynamic, multifaceted environment.

About Our Organization

We offer a range of benefits, including opportunities for career advancement, flexible working arrangements, staff wellness initiatives, and recognition programs. Additional perks include options for cycle-to-work schemes, vehicle leasing, and loans for public transport or memberships for on-site recreational facilities.
