Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Research Scientist to join our team at Synnovis Analytics. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for conducting complex laboratory investigations, ensuring the accuracy and precision of results, and providing scientific and clinical advice to clinicians.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct Laboratory Investigations: Perform complex manual, semi-automated, and fully-automated laboratory investigations, including troubleshooting faults in laboratory instruments and reagents.
  2. Ensure Quality and Accuracy: Measure and monitor the accuracy and imprecision of laboratory investigations using quality control procedures, and take corrective action when necessary.
  3. Provide Scientific and Clinical Advice: Offer scientific and clinical advice to clinicians on the appropriateness and choice of biochemical investigations and their interpretation.
  4. Participate in Research and Audit: Participate in clinical audit and assist in preparing and monitoring management and operational performance data.
  5. Supervise and Train: Supervise the work and monitor performance of laboratory staff, and train and develop their competence in laboratory procedures.
  6. Comply with Policies and Procedures: Comply with local and national policies for the safe, secure, and confidential processing and storage of patient and laboratory information.
  7. Maintain Professional Image: Maintain and promote the professional image of Biochemical Sciences, Synnovis Analytics, and the NHS Trust.
Requirements
  1. Education and Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as biochemistry, biology, or chemistry.
  2. Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, with a strong background in laboratory research and analysis.
  3. Skills and Knowledge: Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques, including quality control and quality assurance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clinicians and other laboratory staff.
