Position Overview

Reporting to the Operations Leader, the Water Treatment Scientist will collaborate with Account Managers and operational teams to meet established objectives while ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency across a portfolio of customer accounts. This role involves providing expert recommendations, monitoring treatment performance, and maintaining effective communication with client representatives in line with contractual agreements.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

• Adhere to safety protocols at all times while achieving company goals and complying with internal, regulatory, and client EHS standards.

• Conduct Legionella sampling in accordance with best practices and utilize internal systems for documentation and monitoring of related activities. Complete Legionella training every three years.

• Engage with the Gensuite system and associated tools for managing QEHS documentation and materials, including RAMS and concern reports.

• Regularly utilize SharePoint for both internal and external documentation management.

• Employ POWRA where applicable.

• Be aware of and support Veolia's Inclusion & Diversity initiatives.

Commercial Management

• Understand the commercial agreements at each assigned client site and promptly inform the Account Manager of any requested changes or overconsumption to ensure profitability.

• Collaborate with Account Managers to achieve profitability and productivity targets as outlined by the Sales Director.

• Notify the Account Manager of any changes in customer contacts.

• Identify opportunities for enhancements to present to the Account Manager, including chemical dosing equipment, training, analytical services, or expanded service offerings.

Service Delivery

• Work with the Account Manager to establish a service plan and optimize service activities at assigned client locations to maximize productivity and profitability, while ensuring adequate coverage during absences. The service plan should detail the scope of services, timing, products, treatment limits, performance expectations, and KPIs. The Scientist is responsible for executing this service plan.


• Communicate fundamental technical concepts to clients and seek assistance for complex solutions.

• Maintain timely and effective communication with clients and the broader Veolia team, escalating issues to Operations Leaders and Commercial colleagues as necessary.

• Complete and submit Consultant Service Reports (CSRs) within agreed timelines, ensuring they detail observations, consequences, and actions for client review.

• Assist in project execution as needed, from initial surveys to final completion.

• Actively participate in review meetings with clients to provide operational and technical insights.

• Demonstrate strong organizational skills to effectively schedule and plan site visits, ensuring visibility for Operations Leaders.

• Engage with safe chemical delivery and storage procedures.

Equipment Management

• Calibrate personal and onsite equipment, generating calibration certificates as required.

• Conduct routine maintenance on proprietary and third-party technologies and equipment.

• Operate dosing pumps, adjusting dosing rates based on onsite test results and safely priming as necessary.

• Independently diagnose onsite issues and escalate or resolve them as needed.

• Utilize Veolia's digital data visualization platform, InSight, to generate CSRs, manage trends and alarms, oversee inventory, and escalate issues as required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field is preferred.

• Willingness to travel within the assigned area, including overnight stays.

• Valid UK driving license is required.

• Ability to effectively support multiple managers and teams.

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Self-motivated and goal-oriented.

• Proficient in PC applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
