Position Overview
Reporting to the Operations Leader, the Water Treatment Scientist will collaborate with Account Managers and operational teams to meet established objectives while ensuring safe and compliant practices across assigned customer accounts. This role involves providing insights, recommending improvements, and communicating treatment performance in alignment with contractual agreements.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety, and Compliance
• Maintain a commitment to safety and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements while achieving company goals.
• Conduct Legionella sampling following best practices and utilize internal systems for documentation and monitoring.
• Engage with the Gensuite system for managing quality, environmental, health, and safety documentation.
• Utilize SharePoint for effective document management and sharing.
• Stay informed about the company's Inclusion & Diversity initiatives.
Commercial Responsibilities
• Understand the commercial agreements at each customer site and promptly inform the Account Manager of any requested changes to maintain profitability.
• Collaborate with Account Managers to achieve profitability and productivity targets as set by the Sales Director.
• Ensure the Account Manager is updated on any changes in customer contacts.
• Identify potential opportunities for service enhancements and communicate these to the Account Manager.
Service Delivery
• Work with the Account Manager to define and optimize service plans for assigned customers, ensuring productivity and profitability while covering for absences.
• Effectively communicate technical concepts to customers and seek assistance for complex issues.
• Maintain timely communication with customers and the broader Veolia team, escalating issues as necessary.
• Complete and submit Consultant Service Reports (CSRs) within established timelines, detailing observations and recommended actions.
• Assist in project execution from initial surveys to final completion.
• Actively participate in review meetings with customers, providing operational and technical insights.
• Organize and schedule site visits efficiently, ensuring visibility for Operations Leaders.
• Adhere to safe chemical handling and storage procedures.
Equipment Management
• Calibrate personal and onsite equipment, generating necessary calibration certificates.
• Perform routine maintenance on both proprietary and third-party technologies and equipment.
• Operate dosing pumps, adjusting rates based on onsite testing results and ensuring safe operation.
• Diagnose onsite issues independently and escalate or resolve them as needed.
• Utilize Veolia's digital data visualization platform to manage trends, alarms, and inventory effectively.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field is preferred.
• Willingness to travel within the assigned area, including overnight stays.
• A valid driving license is required.
• Ability to support multiple managers and teams effectively.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated and goal-oriented.
• Proficiency in PC applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
