Key Responsibilities
The Environmental Site Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the STEP Environmental Lead to ensure full environmental compliance at the site: overseeing and ensuring that all site characterisation and other activities comply with environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
Additional Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify and document any potential environmental hazards or breaches of compliance.
- Review Contractor work plans to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Ensure all site activities comply with local and National environmental laws and regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports on environmental performance and incidents, and communicate findings to the Site Manager and Environmental Technical Lead.
- Assist in the preparation of environmental compliance documentation.
- Provide guidance and advice to the site team(s) on environmental best practices and sustainability measures.
- Recommend and implement corrective actions to mitigate environmental impacts.
- Maintain accurate records of all environmental inspections, monitoring activities, and compliance reports.
- Ensure all environmental documentation is up to date and readily accessible.
- Conduct training sessions for site personnel on environmental awareness and compliance.
- Promote a culture of environmental responsibility among all site workers.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that aligns with our cultural values.
- Contribute to maintaining a respectful and collaborative workplace, valuing diversity, and promoting teamwork.
- Act as a cultural ambassador, representing our organization's values and professionalism in interactions with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
- Lead by example, demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and ethical behaviour.
- Make informed decisions and solve problems effectively, considering diverse perspectives and organizational goals.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an environmental role within the construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent relationship building and in-person communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using environmental monitoring equipment and software.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various sites as needed.
