Breastfeeding Support Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lactation Consultant to join our team at Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a Lactation Consultant, you will play a vital role in supporting our patients and their families in achieving successful breastfeeding outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert lactation support to patients and their families, including assessment, guidance, and education on breastfeeding techniques and management of common breastfeeding issues.
- Work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care and support for patients, including collaboration with midwives, doctors, and other healthcare staff.
- Develop and implement lactation support plans, taking into account individual patient needs and circumstances.
- Conduct regular audits and evaluations to ensure high-quality lactation support services and identify areas for improvement.
- Participate in training and education programs to stay up-to-date with the latest lactation research and best practices.
Requirements
- Health or health science degree and evidence of relevant postgraduate development at Level 6.
- Lactation Consultant registered with the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC).
- UNICEF BFI Breastfeeding and Relationship Building Course.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in area of practice, including practical experience in managing health-related projects/complex caseloads and supervising and training experience.
