We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Digital Imaging Specialist.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and maintaining the digitisation facilities, delivering a scalable programme of digitisation, implementing workflows and developing associated documentation.
The role will involve using a variety of imaging technologies to create digital images of complex, fragile and unique objects with a whole life-cycle approach.
The Digital Imaging Specialist will play a key role in developing technical standards for digital asset management and creating the procedures necessary to support our aim to foster greater awareness and accessibility of our collections.
Key Responsibilities:- Devise and deliver a comprehensive and scalable digitisation service, applying working knowledge of best practice in object photography in the library, archive, museum and gallery sector
- Oversee the digitisation studio and create a safe working environment
- Manage specialist equipment, creating and overseeing a regular programme of maintenance, and recommending updates and improvements
- Exercise care in handling fragile and/or unique material, ensuring all activities are carried out with due regard to the conservation of the items being imaged
- Establish new and streamline existing digitisation workflows across Libraries, Museums and Galleries, encouraging a culture of continuous service improvement
- Contribute to the creation of a roadmap for digital asset management in support of long-term digital preservation
