About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Solar Solution Engineer to join our team at RES, the world's largest independent renewable energy company. As a Solar Solution Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development of our solar projects, working closely with our technical and commercial teams to ensure the successful delivery of our projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct feasibility assessments and solar resource assessments to determine the viability of solar projects
  • Support the techno-economic optimization of solar projects, including solar PV system design and its impact on Balance of System
  • Carry out miscellaneous analyses in support of project development, including energy yield assessments and system wide design
  • Support the procurement team in discussions with suppliers and vendors
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis and tool development to support project development and optimization

Requirements

  • Knowledge of statistics and the solar PV industry, including the design of utility-scale solar PV projects
  • Good report writing skills and attention to detail
  • Good time management skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience of working on utility-scale solar PV projects, with a strong understanding of system wide design and energy yield optimization
  • Experience of using PVSyst or other PV simulation software
  • Experience of designing for constructability and installation, with a strong understanding of the installation process
  • Experience in GIS and programming languages such as Python
