Stepps, North Lanarkshire, United Kingdom Scottish Water Full time

Join Us in Serving Scotland's Water Needs.

At Scottish Water, every role contributes to a vital mission. Our efforts ensure that Scotland's water supply remains uninterrupted, from source to consumption and from waste to treatment.

Become a part of our Portfolio Management Risk Team as a Risk Management Specialist, where your expertise will play a crucial role in overseeing a diverse portfolio aimed at enhancing Scotland's water and wastewater services. You will collaborate with various supply chain partners to execute one of the largest capital investment infrastructure initiatives in the region.

Your Responsibilities

This position demands exceptional risk management skills and effective communication. You will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and ensuring the seamless execution of the risk management portfolio in alignment with Scottish Water's Capital Investment appraisal framework. Additionally, you will monitor risk management processes to drive operational efficiencies and comply with regulatory standards.

Your role will involve guiding our Delivery Vehicles in identifying and managing risks proficiently. You will oversee and refine the risk management strategies applied across various projects and programs, ensuring robustness regardless of project scale and complexity. You will also gather risk intelligence data from within the organization and translate it into actionable insights. Continuous improvement of our operational processes will be a key focus, along with implementing necessary changes within the portfolio team.

Engaging with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders, you will strive to achieve program objectives and deliverables. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to unite diverse contributors to achieve optimal outcomes. You will direct analysts to extract critical information and support the program leadership team in their initiatives.

Moreover, you will ensure that projects meet their goals and that deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget, thereby providing significant value to Scottish Water.

Your Qualifications

We seek a candidate with a solid understanding of risk management principles and their application in ensuring that project managers integrate risk considerations into their operations. Proficiency in IT tools, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI, is essential, along with the ability to communicate key information effectively across all organizational levels. Experience in Capital Programme Delivery and Construction is advantageous but not mandatory.

Strong communication skills are vital, allowing you to adapt your approach to various audiences, including multi-disciplinary stakeholders in risk workshops, external partners, and senior management within capital investment and the broader organization. Experience in facilitating risk workshops and the ability to analyze and interpret data accurately will be crucial for this role.

If you are committed to collaboration, delivering exceptional results, taking initiative, and fostering personal and team development, you are the ideal candidate.

Work-Life Balance

We recognize the importance of a balanced life beyond work. Our benefits include 38 days of annual leave (inclusive of public holidays), with the option to purchase additional days. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.

Our family-friendly policies support major life events such as adoption, maternity, and parental leave. We also promote flexible working arrangements.

For your future, we offer a pension plan, life assurance, and an annual company bonus. Additionally, you will have access to SW Splash, a program that provides discounts on holidays, bills, and shopping.

Final Notes

This role is classified as Grade 7, with a starting salary for new employees set at £41,000, with opportunities for performance-based pay progression up to £51,970.

We encourage applications from individuals who may not meet every requirement. If you have any specific needs during the recruitment process, please let us know, as we are committed to making reasonable adjustments.

As part of our commitment to a thriving Scotland, all employees must be Scottish taxpayers. If you are not currently residing in Scotland, you will need to relocate within your first three months of employment.

Lastly, please note that candidates who have not applied in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database automatically.
