Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Underwriting Trainee to join our team at Lancashire Insurance Group. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a crucial role in accurately recording and assessing underwriting risk information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwriting Risk Assessment: Accurately record and assess underwriting risk information as directed by senior underwriters.
  • Risk Information Transfer: Transfer risk information to pricing models and enter risks on Open Box or other underwriting systems.
  • Validation and Verification: Validate and verify risk information, including SCM and USM validation.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of underwriting data using various internal and external software systems.
  • Statistical Analysis: Assist with statistical analysis of the portfolio and provide deal-by-deal analysis.
  • Business Reporting: Help with the production of regular and ad-hoc business reports.
  • Risk Amendment: Agree to standard or minor amendments to risks within individual parameters and refer complex amendments to senior underwriters.
  • Query Resolution: Investigate queries from underwriters, operations, finance, and legal teams and liaise with brokers as directed to resolve issues.
  • Knowledge Development: Build knowledge of wording, technical understanding, market environments, and risk analysis capabilities.
  • Project Support: Assist with ad-hoc projects and research work, including portfolio analysis and internal/external presentations to stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Professional Communication: Engage with brokers, clients, communities, stakeholders, and colleagues professionally and passionately as proud ambassadors of Lancashire Insurance Group.
