Job Title: Technical Officer

Job Summary:

The Plant Science and Herbarium Program is seeking a highly skilled Technical Officer to join our team. As a Technical Officer, you will be responsible for planning and supervising volunteer programs and related activities of the Western Australian Herbarium. You will also undertake image management and collections curation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and supervise volunteer programs and related activities of the Western Australian Herbarium.
  • Undertake image management and collections curation.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Herbarium's operations.
  • Collaborate with the Herbarium's staff and volunteers to achieve program goals and objectives.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the Herbarium's staff and volunteers.

Selection Criteria:

  • Relevant experience and personal interest in planning, coordinating and supervising volunteer programs.
  • Well-developed leadership and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage others.
  • Relevant experience with photography, scanning, and manipulation and management of digital images.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to work as part of a diverse, multi-cultural team.

Eligibility: To be eligible for permanent appointment, it is essential to have Australian citizenship, New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency status or a visa with entitlement to live and work in Australia for the term of the contract.
