About the Role

The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of production machinery, performing daily inspections, and resolving mechanical faults. This role requires a skilled engineer with experience in high-speed production and a strong understanding of quality, health, and safety standards.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Operate Safely: Ensure that machinery is maintained in line with health, safety, and environmental standards, and that colleagues are aware of and understand the required operating standards.
  2. Monitor Records: Keep accurate records of faults, fabrication of parts, and safety devices.
  3. Support Installation: Assist with the installation of new machinery and work effectively with external contractors as required.
  4. Ensure Safety Standards: Verify that all machines are operating to expected safety standards in line with their given parameters.
  5. Test and Inspect: Conduct routine maintenance checks on all machinery in line with the site maintenance schedule and relevant Health and Safety regulations.
  6. Carry Out Maintenance: Perform maintenance tasks to the highest standard and report any issues promptly. Apply fixes where possible and assist with putting in place preventative maintenance measures to minimize machine breakdowns.
  7. Respond to Breakdowns: Respond promptly to machine breakdowns, undertaking fault finding and fixing breakdowns where possible.
  8. Collaborate with Production: Work with colleagues across Production and other areas to ensure that all print machines and other equipment are running to their targeted output.
  9. Maintain Engineering Documentation: Assist with the upkeep of engineering documentation, including maintenance records, operating procedures, and work instructions.
  10. Assist with Workshop Maintenance: Help maintain the engineering workshop, ensuring stock and stock records are maintained correctly. In the absence of the Engineering Manager, liaise with Purchasing to order machine parts from suppliers.
  11. Stay Up-to-Date: Keep up to date on relevant machine technology and engineering best practices, undertaking ongoing training as and when required.
