Job Description

**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Casework Coordinator to join our team at the Watford & Three Rivers Refugee Partnership. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing specialist information, advice, and advocacy support to asylum seekers and refugees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of clients requiring specialist advice and support, ensuring effective case progression and detailed record-keeping.
  • Collaborate with the Committee, Office Manager, and caseworker volunteers to resolve issues, including running regular Case Review meetings and managing minutes and case records.
  • Offer support and guidance to volunteer Caseworkers and Befrienders, including training where necessary.
  • Implement safeguarding policies, coordinating with the Safeguarding Lead.
  • Take a lead role in weekly Drop-In sessions on Tuesdays, 11am – 1pm.
  • Manage a referral phone line and process enquiries about WTRRP, taking referrals for clients and contributing to regular referral intake meetings.
  • Create links and work effectively with public sector agencies to ensure clients access entitled support in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Establish effective referral relationships within the refugee sector and wider charity sector to provide clients with access to high-quality support through specialist agencies and services.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and on your own initiative, with good organizational skills and IT knowledge.
  • Excellent team-working and communication skills, with experience of casework and working alongside volunteers.
  • Understanding of safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children.
  • Good understanding of the issues affecting asylum seekers, refugees, and people seeking Leave to Remain, and the barriers they face.
  • Experience with the benefit system, ability to keep up with law changes, and their impact on clients.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience advocating on behalf of vulnerable client groups, including knowledge of housing options and mechanisms for effective advocacy.
  • Experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and/or skill in languages.
  • OISC Level 1 (or higher) qualification or willingness to study for this in the future.

Terms of Employment:

  • Salary: £27,000-£33,000 depending on experience and qualification.
  • Duration of contract: two years, extendable.
  • 37 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend work for committee and volunteer support meetings.
  • Place of work: WTRRP office, hybrid, and outreach, including appointments in the community.
  • Holiday entitlement: 20 days plus bank holidays, including the days between Christmas and New Year.
