Job Overview

We are currently seeking Family Support Specialists to join our Family Assessment Service, which handles cases referred from our Front Door (MASH).

In this role, you will conduct Child and Family Assessments, develop family support plans, and collaborate with families to implement agreed interventions. You will also carry out S47 Child Protection Enquiries and work alongside various partner organizations to ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people. Our Family Assessment Service comprises five teams based in modern facilities, and we invite you to be part of our mission to enhance the lives of children and families across the Borough.

Key Qualifications

We are looking for confident, qualified social workers who are registered with Social Work England and have completed their ASYE. Candidates should demonstrate their skills, resilience, and experience in the following areas:

  • Building relationships to foster positive change.
  • Identifying and leveraging family strengths.
  • Managing complex cases effectively.
  • Conducting Child and Family assessments with families and children.
  • Collaborating directly with children, young people, and families while demonstrating a strong understanding of multi-agency partnerships and thresholds of need.
  • Possessing excellent interpersonal skills to engage with families and referrers from various partner agencies.
  • Demonstrating strong analytical and writing abilities, incorporating our systemic practice model that emphasizes family strengths and protective factors.
  • Exhibiting effective time management skills to meet deadlines.
