Position Overview

Rural Warwickshire North PCN is seeking a dedicated Health Care Assistant (HCA) to contribute to our Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and support our Frailty Hub initiative. This is a pivotal opportunity to engage in primary care and influence the quality of patient interactions at the initial points of contact.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conducting ECG recordings
  • Performing blood tests
  • Administering urine tests
  • Facilitating ear irrigation
  • Monitoring blood pressure
  • Fitting 24-hour blood pressure monitors
  • Executing NHS health assessments
  • Assisting with coil fittings
  • Supporting minor surgical procedures
  • Providing chaperoning services
  • Managing the ordering of medical and dressing supplies
  • Preparing and maintaining clinical environments and equipment for patient care
  • Alerting the GP/PCN Lead to significant patient concerns
  • Ensuring the sterilization and upkeep of surgical instruments
  • Administering injections and vaccines (following appropriate training)
  • Including B12, Pneumococcal, and Seasonal Flu vaccinations

Candidate Profile

Essential Experience

  • Prior experience within the NHS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Strong understanding of key aspects of the GMS contract, PCN DES, and IIF
  • Attention to detail and adherence to protocols for maintaining high standards
  • Ability to work independently while respecting confidentiality and sensitivity
  • Effective interpersonal skills for teamwork

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in primary care settings
  • Background in GP practice environments

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Completion of the Care Certificate or equivalent
  • Phlebotomy training certification
  • Experience in phlebotomy and primary care or similar NHS settings
  • Familiarity with EMIS systems
