Role Overview

A Capital Solutions Specialist at Howden Tiger is part of a dynamic, quantitative, client-focused team that excels in developing and executing Property & Casualty reserve solutions, including loss portfolio transfers and finality solutions. This position offers extensive opportunities for learning, growth, and responsibility within a small, innovative team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with team members to facilitate Legacy transactions, focusing on clients in the London market and gaining exposure to the US and European markets.
  • Prepare reinsurance submission documentation.
  • Analyze and edit large datasets using Excel.
  • Create compelling client presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Evaluate the costs and benefits of various reinsurance structures through stochastic modeling.
  • Conduct research on market trends.
  • Develop post-placement documentation.
  • Monitor reinsurer quotes, authorizations, and communications.
  • Engage in cross-team projects, including Capital Markets, Rating Agency Advisory, and Strategic Advisory.
  • Collaborate closely with the London capital solutions team, particularly regarding Funds at Lloyds.
  • Embrace new challenges, take initiative, and learn rapidly.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with Howden Tiger clients and Legacy, establishing a strong reputation within the industry.
  • Assist the team in crafting high-quality presentations.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a business-related role.
  • A degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in Reinsurance.
  • A proactive, creative, and analytical mindset, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • A desire to engage in a client-facing capacity.
  • Ability to apply mathematical reasoning in business and insurance contexts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong time management and project management capabilities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Familiarity with reinsurance is not a prerequisite for success.
  • Minimal travel is expected in the initial years, with opportunities for increased travel as experience and proficiency grow.
  • Authorization to work in the U.K. is required.
