We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Registered Nurse to join our Physical Health Team in Essex. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of physical health assessments to individuals with severe mental illness.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality clinical support to junior colleagues and act as a clinical expert in physical health assessments.
- Contribute to the assessment of physical and mental health needs, with a focus on improving the physical health of individuals with severe mental illness.
- Develop and maintain a good understanding of normal physical and mental health parameters to respond effectively to deteriorating health.
- Provide professional support to the physical health team, including sharing best practices and role modeling.
- Ensure accurate physical health observations and blood tests are taken and actioned for patients eligible for annual physical health checks.
- Assess patients holistically and support junior staff with assessments related to lifestyle, exercise, mental health, nutrition, smoking, alcohol, drug use, and sexual health.
- Facilitate referrals to external services as required, including social services and secondary mental health services.

Requirements- Registered Nurse - Mental Health/Learning Disability/General with current NMC registration.
- ENB 998 / Preceptorship and/or Practice Supervisor and Assessor Training.
- At least 3 years' experience post-registration at Band 5 & community nursing experience.
- Detailed awareness of relevant evidence base relating to physical health in SMI population.
- Experience of working in clinic settings, e.g., Clozapine, Depot/LAI, or physical health.
