About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Bank Chef to join our team at Thornford Park Hospital. As a Bank Chef, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality food and beverage services to our service users, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring efficient and effective food preparation and service.
  • Maintain good food storage procedures and stock rotation, adhering to established protocols.
  • Prepare, plan, and cook meals to a consistently high standard, taking into account special requests and dietary requirements.
  • Serve food and beverages in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Participate in food costings through effective cost control procedures, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
  • Adhere to 'Safer Food Better Business' standards and record-keeping, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Assist the Head Chef in researching and creating new menus, ensuring meals meet healthy eating guidelines.
  • Correctly fill all paperwork related to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point system (HACCP).

Requirements

  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Hold GCSE or equivalent English.
  • Hold City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking.
  • Hold Basic Food Hygiene certification.
  • Have supervising qualification or be working towards it.
  • Have experience preparing and producing quality food to a high standard.
  • Have knowledge of menu planning and costing.
  • Have previous experience in delivering a service on mass.

About the Team

You will be working at Thornford Park, a 130-bedded independent hospital providing medium and low secure Forensic Mental Health Services. Our team is dedicated to providing personalized assessment and treatment programs for individuals with mental illness and complex care needs.
