About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for promoting the participation of children and young people, parents, and carers across Torbay, ensuring their voice is heard and valued. You will work collaboratively with children, young people, and families to design and deliver participation groups, feedback activities, and schemes of direct work that maximize their potential for engagement with Children's Services.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategies to promote participation and engagement of children and young people in Children's Services.
- Work closely with children, young people, and families to understand their needs and preferences, and to design and deliver participation activities that meet their needs.
- Build effective relationships with a wide range of organizations and individuals to ensure the participation of children and young people is valued and respected.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Council's Corporate Parenting and SEND Strategy, ensuring that the participation of children and young people is at the heart of decision-making.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong understanding of the issues that impact on children and young people who are cared for or care experienced and/or have a special educational need and disability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with children, young people, and their families.
- Experience of working in a health, education, or social care environment with children and young people, and a good understanding of their needs and preferences.
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a team, and to build effective relationships with a wide range of organizations and individuals.
