About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Care and Community Services Officer to join our team. As a key member of our care team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of care are consistently provided to our service users.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assessment and Care Planning: Undertake effective and efficient assessments of our service users, including risk assessments, care planning, and ensuring that these are tailored to individual needs and preferences.
  2. Medication Administration and Health Support: Support with the safe administering of medication and monitoring our service users' health needs.
  3. Team Leadership and Management: Support and guide colleagues, including performance reviews and 1-1s, ensuring effective team communication and performance.
  4. Care Delivery and Recording: Support and guide colleagues with the accurate recording of care delivery and any changes to a service user's condition.
  5. Support with Daily Activities: Guide colleagues as they assist our service users with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility.
  6. Encouraging Participation and Positive Living: Encourage participation in activities and foster a positive living environment.
  7. Maintaining a Safe and Clean Environment: Help to maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  8. Delegated Responsibilities: Take responsibility for delegated areas of work as required, including specific projects.
  9. Training and Development: Participate in or lead colleague meetings and undertake and deliver training as required.
  10. Service Development: Develop individual and group programmes to meet specific objectives.
  11. Representation and Communication: Attend meetings and represent the Registered Manager/Deputy Manager as required.
  12. Links with Partner Organisations: Maintain links with partner organisations, the voluntary and private sector as appropriate.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following skills and experience:

  1. Previous Experience in a Similar Role: Previous experience in a similar role within a care home or similar environment.
  2. Appropriate Qualification: Appropriate qualification – NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) or above.
  3. Knowledge of Legislation: Significant knowledge and application of relevant legislation e.g., Care Standards Act 2000, Community Care Act 1991.
  4. Risk Assessment and Care Planning: Significant knowledge of risk assessment process and care planning process obtained in a similar environment.
  5. Leadership and Management: Ability to lead, manage and communicate effectively with team members.
  6. Planning and Organisation: Ability to plan, organise and monitor own work.
  7. Medication Training and Experience: Current medication training and experience.
  8. Anti-Discriminatory Practice: Experience of understanding and applying anti-discriminatory practice.
  9. People Management: Management of colleagues including use of people management policies and procedures.
  10. Safeguarding Adults: Understanding of Safeguarding Adults policy and procedures.
  11. Assessing Individual Client Needs: Significant experience of assessing individual client needs.

  1. Effective Communication: Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with people we support, colleagues, relatives, other professionals and senior managers.
  2. Flexibility and Adaptability: Have a strong ability to work flexibly, managing changing and competing priorities.
  3. Line Management: Able to provide effective line management to achieve objectives.
  4. Service Development: Able to contribute to service development.
  5. Good IT Skills.

We would also like to see:

  1. Implementation of Fundamental Standards: Experience and qualifications in implementing the fundamental standards within a residential setting.
