The Team

Shoosmiths boasts one of the most vibrant corporate teams in the country, consistently ranked among the top law firms for the volume of UK transactions. We provide expert advice to public and private entities, management teams, investors, and debt providers throughout the business lifecycle, from initial funding to mergers and acquisitions, management buyouts, and private equity funding.

Our esteemed Belfast team, comprising two Partners, handles a wide array of corporate transactions, with a strong emphasis on private equity and venture capital deals, as well as mid to large-scale corporate mergers and acquisitions.

The Role

As a Corporate Legal Assistant, you will gain invaluable exposure to high-caliber work, collaborating closely with our local legal advisors and Belfast corporate partners. You will also have the chance to support our national corporate team.

Your primary responsibilities will encompass assisting with a diverse range of intricate and high-profile corporate transactions, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting thorough due diligence;
  • Drafting and negotiating essential documents and reports;
  • Reviewing and organizing documentation;
  • Communicating effectively with national and international clients, external solicitors, and other third parties, both in writing and verbally;
  • Coordinating with various departments within Shoosmiths;
  • Assisting legal advisors with corporate law matters and administrative tasks.

  • Exceptional attention to detail in all correspondence and documentation;
  • Adaptability to client needs, with the capacity to embrace change and maintain composure under pressure;

  • Willingness to engage in business development activities, including attending networking and marketing events.
