About the Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Collaborate effectively within the health centre team alongside general practitioners to enhance the quality of our nursing services.
  • Encourage integrated nursing practices across the broader nursing team, supported by the establishment of evidence-based practice guidelines for comprehensive care delivery to our patient population.
  • Ensure clinical excellence by tracking key quality indicators in relation to established guidelines.

About the Candidate

Applicants should possess the following qualifications, registrations, skills, and experience:

  • A relevant nursing degree.
  • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
  • Completion of a Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
  • Proficiency in conducting asthma, COPD, and diabetes clinics and reviews, with relevant certifications.
  • Demonstrated clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultations, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of chronic conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunizations, as well as dressing and wound care.
  • A compassionate demeanor with an empathetic approach, showing kindness in all professional interactions. The ideal candidate will respect the dignity of patients, their families, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge and experience in supporting patients with long-term conditions.
  • Awareness and understanding of current challenges in nursing and the broader NHS landscape.
About Us

We are a welcoming, supportive, and well-organized GMS practice, committed to delivering traditional family-oriented general practice from our modern, purpose-built health centre. Our practice serves approximately 20,000 patients and includes 5 partners, 3 salaried GPs, a large nursing support team, and a comprehensive administrative staff.

As a training and teaching practice for Cambridge students, we also engage in research initiatives. We consistently achieve high performance in all QOF and Enhanced Services areas, featuring an innovative team structure with individual patient lists (around 2,500 per FTE GP). Our operations utilize the SystmOne computer system, and we actively participate in local GP federation and ICB activities.

Lister Medical Centre is conveniently located with easy access to major roadways and is surrounded by the beautiful Essex and Hertfordshire countryside, offering excellent educational facilities.
