Job Title: Environmental Protection Officer

At Fife Council, we are committed to providing a clean, safe, and secure environment for our community. As an Environmental Protection Officer, you will play a vital role in achieving this goal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate environmental protection matters and antisocial behaviour
  • Carry out patrols and gather evidence to support enforcement action
  • Liaise with customers, colleagues, and partner agencies to resolve issues
  • Decide on appropriate action to take, including providing advice and issuing warnings
  • Prepare and submit reports to the Procurator Fiscal
  • Conduct interviews with witnesses and offenders to gather evidence
  • Investigate vandalism and property damage
  • Facilitate community clean-ups and order removal of debris
  • Agree priorities with local communities and attend multi-agency meetings
Requirements:
  • SVQ2, National certificate, or Higher level qualification
  • Good standard of written English
  • Ability to work weekends (minimum 2 Saturdays per month)
  • Full current driving licence
  • Experience in dealing with the public
  • Conflict avoidance/resolution skills
  • Good communication and persuasive skills
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Positive work ethic and attitude
