The role of a Casework Manager involves engaging with a diverse and inclusive Operations Team within the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). This position presents an opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of the police complaints framework in England and Wales, fostering a culture that prioritizes accountability and transparency.
As a Casework Manager, your primary responsibility will be to assess and make informed decisions on reviews concerning police investigations related to serious complaints. This entails a thorough evaluation of circumstances surrounding public complaints against police interactions, weighing evidence, relevant legislation, and analytical reports to arrive at conclusions that may range from identifying no fault to recommending training for officers or initiating disciplinary actions.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be entrusted with significant decision-making authority, impacting both the public and police personnel. Your impartiality and fairness are crucial, as the outcomes of your assessments can influence public trust in policing in the UK.
The Casework Manager position is both demanding and fulfilling. You will receive comprehensive training tailored to various relevant subjects, ensuring you are well-equipped to handle the complexities of your role. The IOPC provides extensive support through its Legal, Subject Matter Networks, and Oversight Teams, offering specialized guidance during your decision-making processes.
Job Duties
- Handle a diverse array of cases, including reviews of police complaint investigations and serious injury reports.
- Communicate assessments effectively to various stakeholders, adapting your approach to suit different audiences.
- Ensure adherence to customer service principles while interacting with appellants and relevant authorities.
- Critically analyze evidence and assess the adequacy of information provided by appropriate authorities.
- Prepare detailed reports outlining your findings, conclusions, and recommendations for action.
- Facilitate learning and improvement by sharing insights gained from your work with colleagues and stakeholders.
Qualifications
