The Role

Reporting to the Operations Director, the Operations Leader will be instrumental in driving the success of the facility. With an emphasis on reliability, predictability, and efficiency, you will ensure these principles guide all strategic decisions. You will foster a culture of accountability and ownership throughout the site.


The Operations Leader will manage all Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) Operations and Maintenance, collaborating with the Central Engineering Team to meet availability goals and outage schedules.

Your responsibilities will also include overseeing personnel management, mentoring the site leadership team, and ensuring adherence to optimized processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the ERF site team to promote a safety-first culture, serving as the senior representative for the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations through effective execution of the facility's Health & Safety Plan.
  • Meet targets for plant availability, waste processing, and energy generation, with regular performance reporting.
  • Cultivate a culture of performance and continuous improvement, ensuring recruitment, staff development, and succession planning align with corporate standards.
  • Manage the site's Profit & Loss, preparing annual budgets, forecasting needs, and implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization to support central initiatives and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Uphold high standards of legal and regulatory compliance, coordinating with central teams to ensure uniform practices.

Experience and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Significant experience in people management at a senior level within a large technical department or region.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in managing Profit & Loss, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
  • Senior management experience in the energy generation or relevant process sector.
  • Practical experience with corporate management systems.
  • Extensive experience in contract management.

Desirable:

  • Experience as an Operations Leader or at least 3 years in a senior management role within a process plant environment.
  • Degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Formal business and safety qualifications.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body.
  • Relevant Certificate of Technical Competence.

Hours of Work:

  • Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week)
