We are seeking a highly skilled Satellite Market Access Specialist to lead our engagement with regulators in the Middle East/Africa region. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating, obtaining and protecting market access and spectrum rights for our satellites and services, as well as participating in ITU activities and other regulatory requirements.
Main Responsibilities:- Engage with national regulatory authorities in the region to secure new licenses/authorizations and maintain existing ones.
- Prepare documentation in support of the license/authorization application process.
- Negotiate with regulatory bodies to influence and optimize the domestic/regional regulatory framework.
- Provide regulatory support to the commercial team and distribution partners for market access in the region.
- Represent Telesat in Middle Eastern and African regional forums, such as ASMG and the ATU, and international forums, such as the ITU-R, to promote our interests.
- Assist with market access in other regions as required.
- Identify and develop proposals to ensure our regulatory long-term interests are protected.
- Provide key inputs to short and long-range planning in support of corporate development.
- Degree in Engineering or other technical subject.
- Master degree is an asset.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in satellite communications related to market access, domestic/regional regulatory framework/forums and the application of the ITU Radio Regulations.
- Team player.
- Strong technical, regulatory research and analysis skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English, Arabic and/or French would be an advantage.
- Experience as company lead representative in international forums.
- Ability to work well in a cross-functional environment.
- Ability to exercise judgment and make sound decisions to drive processes to conclusion.
- Self-starter with good organizational skills and the ability to work independently and with limited oversight.
- Effective management of multiple projects simultaneously.
