About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regulatory Affairs Manager to lead our engagement with regulators in the Middle East and Africa region. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating, obtaining, and protecting market access and spectrum rights for Telesat's satellites and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directly engage with national regulatory authorities in the region to secure new licenses/authorizations and maintain existing ones.
  • Prepare documentation in support of the license/authorization application process and engage in complex negotiations to influence and optimize the domestic/regional regulatory framework.
  • Provide regulatory support to the commercial team and to the distribution partners for market access in the region.
  • Represent Telesat in Middle Eastern and African regional forums such as ASMG and the ATU, and international forums such as the ITU-R to promote Telesat interests.
  • Assist with market access in other regions as required and identify and develop proposals to ensure Telesat's regulatory long-term interests are protected.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in satellite communications related to market access, domestic/regional regulatory framework/forums, and the application of the ITU Radio Regulations.
  • Strong technical, regulatory research, and analysis skills, as well as excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience as a company lead representative in international forums and ability to work well in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and make sound decisions to drive processes to conclusion and effective management of multiple projects simultaneously.
