Job Title: Specialist Medical Physiotherapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Medical Physiotherapist to join our Medical Therapy Team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Medical Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for providing advanced assessment and treatment for a range of highly complex patients on the medical wards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced assessment and treatment for complex medical patients
  • Work alongside the wider multidisciplinary team in discharge planning for complex medical patients
  • Supervise, teach, and appraise Band 5 physiotherapists, physiotherapy associate practitioners, and technicians, as well as students and other members of the Medical Therapy Team
  • Participate in CPD, IST, audit, evidence-based projects, and service development projects
  • Remain competent for respiratory on-call and work as part of the respiratory on-call rota
  • Remain competent to work as part of the orthopaedic weekend rota
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • BSc/MSc Physiotherapy
  • HPCP registration
  • Leadership Course (desirable)
  • CPD course in specific area (desirable)
  • Specific Interest Group (desirable)

  • Essential:
    • Good time management
    • Experience of medical patients and caseload management
    • Respiratory experience to on-call standard
    • Experience of managing non-clinical demands
