About the Role


We are seeking a highly skilled Physiotherapist to join our Medical Therapy Team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279). As a Clinical Specialist in Advanced Medical Physiotherapy, you will be responsible for providing expert assessment and treatment to patients with complex medical conditions.



Main Duties and Responsibilities



  • To provide advanced assessment and treatment for a range of highly complex patients on the medical wards.
  • To work alongside the wider MDT in the discharge planning of complex medical patients.
  • To supervise, teach and appraise Band 5 physiotherapists, physiotherapy associate practitioners and technicians, students and other members of the Medical Therapy Team.
  • To support the team lead with operational management.
  • To participate in CPD, IST, audit, evidence-based projects and service development projects which may include making recommendations for change in practice.
  • To remain competent for respiratory on-call and to work as part of the respiratory on-call rota.
  • To remain competent to work as part of the orthopaedic weekend rota

  • BSc / MSc Physiotherapy
  • HPCP registration
  • Leadership Course
  • CPD course in specific area
  • Specific Interest Group
  • Evidence of good time management
  • Experience of medical patients and caseload management
  • Respiratory experience to on call standard
  • Experience of managing non clinical demands
  • Evidence of good MDT working and establishing good working relationships
  • Demonstrates understanding of importance of patient flow
  • Evidence of staff supervision
  • Experience of leading training sessions
  • Ability to lead and motivate others
  • Experience of supporting staff with development needs
  • Evidenced of improved knowledge and championed diversity
  • Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues
  • Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role).
