Lead Pharmacist, Medicines Value and Transformation Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care Board's mission to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. As a valued member of the Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation Team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare in our region.
Main ResponsibilitiesOperational
- To support the procurement and contracting of commissioned services, ensuring optimal clinical and cost-effectiveness.
- To evaluate and analyse complex information on medicines use in primary care and commissioned services, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- To work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver projects, initiatives, and services on time and within budget.
- To support the identification and sharing of best practices in medicines optimisation.
Financial and Physical Resources
- To monitor delegated project budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
- To support the commissioning of projects and procurement of services, ensuring value for money.
- To provide project financial and quality improvement reports, advice, and strategic briefings to Directors and the Board as required.
Staff Management
- To manage the day-to-day activities of the medicines value and transformation team, mentoring and developing team members.
- To support staff training, development, and support pharmacists and technicians with professional development plans.
Information Management
- To develop and maintain specialist medicines optimisation knowledge and information.
- To coordinate education and engagement campaigns to support project delivery.
- To analyse and interpret data, highlighting issues and risks, and providing recommendations for improvement.
Research and Development
- To plan, develop, and evaluate methods and processes for gathering, analysing, and presenting data and information.
- To critically appraise clinical research and evidence to support project delivery.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Pharmacy (MPharm)
- Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through postgraduate diploma or equivalent experience in clinical pharmacy
- Higher degree in clinical pharmacy, prescribing science, or equivalent
