About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team at Actemium. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of electrical systems for our clients in the nuclear sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with project managers to generate and maintain detailed project plans and deliverable schedules.
  • Identify resource requirements and request resources as needed.
  • Report progress of engineering deliverables against specified work plans.
  • Source ideas and innovation from multiple sources and generate value-adding options to achieve the optimum engineered solution.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.
  • Produce engineering documentation to influence and provide evidence of the design process.
  • Develop technical specifications that define the totality of requirements for engineering solutions.
  • Assess specific elements that contribute to equipment design and document justification/arguments that substantiate it.
  • Conduct risk assessments, identify, evaluate, and mitigate hazards by design.
  • Ensure work under your supervision is consistent in the use of software tools, deliverable protocols, formats, templates, numbering, and storage.
  • Support the production of technical information in tenders.
  • Be the key point of contact with customer stakeholders and build collaborative relationships.
  • Identify requirements for, and organise and undertake, design reviews.
About You

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled Principal Electrical Engineer with a strong background in design engineering and a proven track record of delivering high-quality electrical systems in the nuclear sector.

You will have a degree with honours or level 6 equivalent, Chartered Engineer or equivalent status, and several years' experience working in design engineering. You will also have a number of years' experience working within a highly regulated industry, such as the nuclear sector.

You will be proficient in the use of standard Microsoft Office software, such as Word and Excel, and competent in the use of CAD software/digital tools. You will also understand and be able to apply the company management system, design codes, standards, and procedures, as well as law, acts, and regulations.

You will have a breadth of demonstrable experience of design and detailing of plant and equipment, and understand the NEC suite of contracts, change control methodology, and common project management practices.

You will also have commercial understanding, budgeting, and cost control, reporting practices, and be able to prepare and maintain schedules for activities and events, taking account of dependencies and resource requirements.
