About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Strategic Improvement Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and facilitating the development of integrated plans for the delivery of the Commitments theme/priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver team/cross-organisational projects or activities that support the Strategic Commitments.
  • Build and maintain targeted stakeholder relationships and networks across and beyond NIHR to ensure engagement and alignment with the Commitments.
  • Work collaboratively with the Comms and Engagement function to develop and implement communications and stakeholder engagement plans.
  • Put in place effective programme management approaches for the implementation of the Commitments.
  • Assist the Chair and lead senior manager to ensure effective governance of the Public Partnerships Programme Board.
  • Lead or contribute to the development of high-quality resources and learning materials.
  • Provide high-quality responses to stakeholder enquiries and effective signposting.
  • Lead or facilitate team/project events, workshops, and meetings, and represent NIHR at meetings and events.
Requirements
  • Degree in health or social sciences or equivalent skills/experience.
  • Experience of managing public or community involvement/engagement, ideally in the health and/or care sector.
  • Strong applied public partnerships knowledge in at least one of the 5 Strategic themes.
  • Experience of leading or delivering improvement goals in an area of work, involving other teams or organisations.
  • Experience of delivering successful stakeholder engagement for a strategy/project/programme.
  • Experience of working with stakeholders at all levels to generate commitment to, and achieve delivery of, shared goals.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, to persuade those outside your management control, and at different levels, to take ownership of work/improve practice/align work/deliver results.
  • Excellent communication skills orally and in writing, including the ability to convey complex material tailored to the needs of different audiences.
  • Effective planning/organisational skills to deliver multiple and fluctuating priorities with demanding deadlines.
  • Understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and able to show how you would apply it in this role.
  • Highly IT literate with the ability to competently employ the various functions of Microsoft/Google.
