Company Overview:

Vallum Associates is a prominent underwriter focused on commercial motor insurance solutions. Our expertise lies in underwriting policies for commercial vehicles, alongside a selection of private motor policies, fleet insurance, and other motor-related business.

Department Structure:

The claims division consists of a dedicated team of 17 professionals, including three deputy managers. The Claims Supervisor plays a pivotal role in guiding the team and ensuring the effective management of all claims activities.

Role Summary:

The Claims Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the complete claims process, ensuring that all claims are processed efficiently and in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. This role encompasses workload management, reserve setting, report preparation for senior management, and the handling of complex litigated claims. The Claims Supervisor will also engage with legal representatives, participate in client claims review sessions, and collaborate with our financial backers.

Key Duties:

  • Workload Distribution & Oversight:
  • Distribute and oversee workloads within the claims team to guarantee prompt and effective claims processing.
  • Evaluate team performance and offer support to uphold high operational standards.
  • Adherence to Service Levels:
  • Ensure compliance with service level agreements established for suppliers and financial backers.
  • Guarantee that all claims are processed within designated timeframes and meet quality expectations.
  • Financial Oversight:
  • Establish reserves for claims in line with company protocols and industry benchmarks.
  • Compile bordereaux and statistical reports for presentation to the Board of Directors.
  • Management of Litigated Claims:
  • Oversee significant litigated claims in collaboration with legal counsel.
  • Ensure that all legal matters are handled with professionalism and in the company's best interests.
  • Client and Stakeholder Interaction:
  • Participate in client claims review meetings to provide updates and address concerns.
  • Engage in claims discussions with financial backers to analyze claim trends and performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in a claims management capacity within the commercial motor insurance sector.
  • Proficient in Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of claims handling procedures and legal obligations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective engagement with clients and stakeholders.
  • Skilled in preparing detailed analytical reports.
