Equipment Maintenance Specialist
Location: Tipton

Salary: £45,000 per annum

Full-time: 40 hours per week

Job Overview

Key Internal Relationships:
Setter Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, Head of Operations, Quality Manager, Technical Manager, Manufacturing Supervisors, Manufacturing Personnel, Administration Personnel
Key External Relationships:
Contractors/Service Engineers
Principal Purpose of Role:
The primary objective is to ensure that all manufacturing machinery, tools, and facilities are maintained in optimal condition. Enhance equipment reliability by maximizing the mean time between failures (MTBF) while minimizing the mean time to repair (MTTR).
Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct repairs on various types of machinery and equipment safely and professionally.
  • Assist in the formulation of planned preventative maintenance schedules (PPM).
  • Execute PPM schedules and planned work orders as required.
  • Support visiting specialist engineers when necessary.
  • Report breakdown root causes, equipment malfunctions, and concerns to the line manager.
  • Perform troubleshooting to resolve minor repair issues.
  • Utilize CMMS effectively.
  • Organize and prioritize workload to support production and ensure efficient use of time.
  • Contribute to meeting daily production targets.
  • Complete job tickets/CMMS upon work completion accurately and promptly.
  • Respond to maintenance requests for equipment faults, diagnose issues, repair, and restore equipment to operational status, ensuring all work is conducted safely and efficiently.
  • Identify spare parts requirements, log usage, and assist in inventory control.
  • Help in the relocation, installation, and repositioning of machinery and equipment.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety, Environmental, and Housekeeping standards.
  • Comply with the Health & Safety Policy to identify, assess, and control hazards.
  • Proactively manage personal health, safety, and well-being, as well as that of colleagues.
  • Ensure a safe working environment without compromising safety.
  • Perform duties efficiently to avoid negative impacts on the environment, waste materials unnecessarily, damage company property, or hinder team success.
  • Safeguard the general security of the site and its personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies during any process changes or improvements.

  • Conduct all communication in a professional, positive, and clear manner.
  • Demonstrate clear and persuasive oral communication in both positive and negative situations.
  • Provide and receive feedback openly.
  • Actively engage in meetings with effective presentation skills.

Additional Responsibilities / Personal Performance:
  • Ensure optimal line performance.
  • Communicate all issues to the team leader/shift Production Manager.
  • Notify Maintenance and Production Managers immediately of service breakdowns.
  • Inform Maintenance and Production Managers of any stoppages lasting one hour or more.

Customer Focus:
  • Consider team behavior in relation to customer satisfaction and ensure brand protection.
