Senior Product Safety Engineer

Join BAE Systems - UK as a Senior Product Safety Engineer and contribute to the development of safe and reliable products for the aerospace industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with customers to agree delivery timescales and allocate tasks to suitably qualified team members.
  • Generate and evaluate safety assessments for aircraft, systems, and subsystems to ensure compliance with safety certification requirements.
  • Develop and maintain hazard logs for platforms and support products, and generate safety assessments and design justifications.
  • Ensure safety engineering evidence supports acceptable safety certification of product design, and prepare certification material for internal and external reviews.
  • Undertake emergent issue risk assessments and support platform system and subsystem areas in undertaking risk assessments.
Desirable Skills:
  • Knowledge and experience in aerospace/aeronautical engineering, systems, or mechanical engineering, and safety engineering in a military airborne platform design environment.
  • Working knowledge and experience of safety standards, such as UK regulatory frameworks, Def-Stan 00-55/00-56, and Mil-Std-882.
  • Working knowledge and experience of safety toolsets, such as Fault Tree Analysis+, Reliability Workbench, and Goal Structured Notation (GSN).
  • Ability to engage with senior technical and engineering leaders within the business and senior external stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and influence on technical aspects and acceptability of product safety in a through-life capacity.
