Position Overview

Junior Clinical Associate Psychologist in Geriatric Mental Health

We are pleased to present a remarkable opportunity to become a part of our expanding team of psychological experts within the Doncaster Care Group as a Junior Clinical Associate Psychologist (CAP) focusing on the elderly population. This role is a vital addition to our psychological workforce, aimed at enhancing the NHS initiative to broaden psychological services for older individuals within the Community Mental Health Team of the Doncaster Care Group.

In this position, you will receive support while pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Associate Psychology, concentrating on providing psychological evaluations and interventions for older adults experiencing mental health challenges. You will collaborate with a diverse team of psychological and multidisciplinary professionals, all under the guidance of a qualified HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist. Additionally, you will have the chance to contribute to a new group therapy initiative and conduct neuropsychological assessments.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include assisting and supporting the Clinical Psychologist and other therapeutic professionals in executing psychological evaluations and both individual and group interventions for older adults facing mental health issues and complex emotional challenges, including dementia diagnoses. This role will involve direct and indirect interactions with current patients and their caregivers, as well as collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and relevant agencies as necessary.

Furthermore, the position entails involvement in clinically related administrative tasks, creating psycho-educational and group therapy materials, conducting neuro assessments, gathering data, and aiding in the training of broader teams. You will also have opportunities to participate in reflective practice sessions alongside a community psychologist, CBT therapist, fellow trainee CAPs, and a Consultant Psychologist.
