About the Role

MDE Group UK is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing plant by carrying out electrical and mechanical breakdown repair coverage, planned preventive maintenance, and training operators and craft personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to machine breakdowns with a view to minimizing downtime and improving long-term machine reliability
  • Execute the lead/senior maintenance engineer's plan to work preventatively in addition to reactively
  • Use appropriate root cause analysis tools and 5S
  • Carry out routine planned preventative maintenance
  • Accurately record all maintenance tasks performed on an electronic reporting system
  • Train operators and craft in performing first-line and planned maintenance activities as and when required
  • Communicate and liaise with other departments and fellow maintenance engineers to ensure continuity of information between shifts
  • Liaise with machine tool suppliers/representatives for the purchase of machine tool spares and resolution of problems requiring 3rd party support
  • Be responsible for training apprentices
  • Attend monthly meetings to ensure understanding of the organization's importance of meeting customer as well as statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Proactively ensure quality procedures and guidelines are followed to ensure quality objectives are met
  • Escalate any customer quality concern immediately upon identification
Requirements
  • Works well alone and as part of a team
  • To have a proven record of being pro-active, self-motivated, and flexible when working in a pressurized environment
  • Ability to read pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic schematics
  • Multi-skilled individual with practical experience in PLC fault finding and repair
  • Complete understanding and experience of mechanical and electrical disciplines
  • Ideally, to have served a recognized engineering apprenticeship
  • Conversant in standard MS office applications
