As a dynamic and supportive Human Resources Team, this role presents a unique opportunity for you to make a meaningful contribution to various people and workforce initiatives throughout the Council during a period of significant evolution.


Role Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Strategic HR Manager, you will collaborate with leaders and managers to help them meet their operational goals by diagnosing challenges, proposing solutions, and implementing innovative human resource strategies.


Your proactive approach will be essential in providing professional guidance across a comprehensive range of HR matters, including organizational restructuring, shared services, and TUPE regulations; managing grievance, disciplinary, capability, absence, redeployment, and redundancy cases; and participating in the development and refinement of HR policies and procedures to ensure they align with the Council's vision and values.


Given our ambitious agenda, while this position is advertised as full-time, we welcome discussions regarding flexible working arrangements for candidates with the right skills and experience.


Candidate Profile:
We seek an individual capable of fostering and maintaining robust working relationships across all organizational levels, including with Trade Unions.


The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to partner with various groups to drive change and possess the skills to apply and interpret employment law in complex situations.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience in an HR setting, preferably in a generalist capacity.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices, along with current insights into HR developments and innovations.
  • Capability to cultivate a culture of trust while integrating principles of equality, diversity, inclusion, and belonging into organizational practices.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work with managers, staff, and Trade Unions to devise creative solutions while adhering to corporate objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
  • A flexible mindset to accommodate the needs of the service.
