Overview: The University of Cambridge is on the lookout for a dedicated professional to oversee our Facilities Operations Team. This pivotal role is shared between the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research and the Mitochondrial Biology Unit, ensuring the seamless and effective daily operations of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the management of both proactive and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Oversee special projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring accountability at every stage.
  • Administer a comprehensive maintenance service for all mechanical and electrical systems within the facility, collaborating with internal teams and external contractors as needed.

Collaboration: You will work closely with senior management to plan, execute, and supervise any modifications or renovations within the facilities. Additionally, you will serve as the Fire Safety Officer and manage Health & Safety protocols for the Facilities Operations Team.

Team Management: This role includes the supervision of a Maintenance Technician and an Electrician Technician, as well as oversight of contractors and University Estates Division personnel engaged in facility work.

Qualifications: Candidates should possess relevant experience in a mechanical or electrical maintenance setting within the industrial or commercial sectors. While experience with Building Management Systems, mechanical service plants, heating systems, and electrical distribution is preferred, we welcome applicants who demonstrate the potential to grow and develop in this role.
