Logistics Operations Specialist - KBM Resourcing


The Logistics Operations Specialist is tasked with overseeing and optimizing all logistics functions, ensuring precise management of import and export activities while adhering to customs regulations relevant to various jurisdictions.

In collaboration with the Sales & Delivery teams, the Specialist is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the project Scheduler, identifying potential conflicts within the asset fleet, and communicating observations to the management team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement logistics strategies to transport equipment and spare parts to designated locations punctually.
  • Comprehend the company's equipment distribution configurations for subsequent transportation and formulate load plans for breakbulk, oversized, and out-of-gauge shipments. Prepare shipping documentation, including dangerous goods certificates, in partnership with the asset team to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Negotiate advantageous rates and framework agreements with crane service providers, transport companies, vessel brokers, and freight forwarders.
  • Act as the primary contact for all equipment relocations, quayside services, and yard crane rentals, issuing purchase orders and coordinating transport notifications as necessary.
  • Oversee quayside logistics operations at mobilization and demobilization ports, ensuring safe and secure cargo handling while focusing on cost efficiency within budget constraints.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the organization to facilitate logistics planning, continuously updating equipment schedules in response to evolving project requirements.
  • Establish and maintain Import/Export Registers within the SharePoint system for audit purposes.
  • Advise on optimal transportation modes, routes, and frequencies, and plan space consolidation on flatbed trailers, heavy haulage, and abnormal loads, including platforms, flat racks, and open-top containers.
  • Ensure prompt customs clearance for all export and import shipments.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of import and export customs regulations, accurately interpreting this information to meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Develop a comprehensive equipment shipping cost reference for bid precision.
  • Provide logistics data to management to enhance cost accuracy.
  • Deliver effective solutions to logistics challenges while maintaining high standards of quality and service within budgetary limits.
Qualifications:
Significant experience in freight and customs operations or a comparable combination of education and experience. Extensive knowledge of shipping and charter party contract terms.

Familiarity with road, air, and sea freight shipping documentation, including Incoterms and HS Codes.

Project experience in handling heavy cargo and out-of-gauge sea freight shipments is preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Excel, and SharePoint.

Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

Demonstrates a proactive, adaptable, and decisive approach.
