About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team at Valeo Foods in York. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Reporting: You will be responsible for accurately reporting breakdowns and PPM activities, providing valuable insights to inform our maintenance strategies.
  • Repair Work Prioritization: You will prioritize repair work to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Machine Performance Monitoring: You will monitor machine performance to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaboration with Planning Department: You will work closely with our planning department to negotiate machine availability and ensure seamless production workflows.
  • Failure Monitoring: You will monitor equipment failures to identify trends and implement preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Support for External Contractors: You will provide technical support to external contractors to ensure they have the necessary information to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Technical Support for Production: You will provide technical support to production teams as needed to ensure smooth operation of manufacturing processes.
  • Housekeeping and Documentation: You will maintain the highest standards of housekeeping and documentation, adhering to our clean-as-you-go policy and ensuring accurate completion of paperwork and work sign-offs.
Key Areas of Focus
  • Engineering Activities: You will be responsible for carrying out engineering activities, including maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
  • PPM Plans and Completion Rates: You will work to achieve PPM plans and completion rates, minimizing engineering downtime and ensuring optimal production efficiency.
  • Engineering Downtime Minimization: You will strive to minimize engineering downtime, ensuring that production workflows are not disrupted.
  • GMP and Safety Standards: You will maintain the highest standards of GMP and safety within the engineering department, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Engineering Processes Compliance: You will ensure compliance with engineering processes within the team, implementing and maintaining best practices.
  • Engineering Audit Standards: You will ensure that engineering audit standards are maintained at the highest level, ensuring that our manufacturing processes meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Engineering Skills and Knowledge: You will maintain the highest level of engineering skills and knowledge, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices.
Requirements
  • Relevant Engineering Qualification: You will hold a relevant engineering qualification, demonstrating your expertise in maintenance and repair.
  • Competency in Isolation and Electrical Safety: You will be able to prove competency in all forms of isolation, electrical safety, and safe panel entry.
  • FMCG Operations Experience: You will have experience working in FMCG operations, understanding the complexities of food manufacturing processes.
  • PC Literacy: You will be PC literate, able to use computer-based maintenance systems to track and manage maintenance activities.
  • Machine Strip and Reassembly: You will be able to strip machines in full and reassemble them, as well as complete machine size change procedures and adjustments.
