About the Role:

The Quality Assurance Technician will provide technical support to the technical department to maintain safety, quality, and legality of products. This role will work closely with Site Technical and Operations teams to ensure the efficient production of safe and legal food.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct internal audits and routine Food Safety inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Carry out daily taste sessions (Hovis Quality Evaluation) to monitor product quality.
  • Manage Product quality Standards, from identifying quality standards to ensuring the factory implements them.
  • Manage raw material non-conformances and liaise with suppliers to resolve issues.
  • Arrange sample collection and despatch for Finished Product, Raw Materials, and Micro.
  • Manage raw materials and packaging documentation.
  • Participate in preparing for BRC and customer audits.
  • Deliver continuous improvement of both product quality and standards on site.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified (industry technical experience will be considered in lieu of qualifications).
  • Knowledge of food legislation and food safety principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and proficiency in computer applications.
  • Ability to influence and challenge.
  • Commitment to incorporating the Hovis values of Quality, Accountability, and Trust in daily functions.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Customer-facing experience.
  • Bakery industry experience.
  • Experience with retailers and 3rd party audit/BRC standards.
  • HACCP qualification.
  • Experience of working in a Food manufacturing environment.
  • Internal audit training.
