Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Community Alarm Officer to join our team at Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council. As a key member of our community safety team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of our vulnerable residents.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess and install telecare equipment in individuals' homes, providing a safe and supportive environment for those who need it most.
  • Operate the control centre equipment on a 24-hour basis, receiving and responding to emergency calls in accordance with our service standards and policies.
  • Identify the type of emergency, assess the needs of the customer, and initiate appropriate action to ensure a swift and effective response.
  • Provide a courteous and professional service at all times, offering information, advice, and support to customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in the operation of our Council's Appraisal Scheme and champion an open culture of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion throughout the organization.

Person Specification
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people in a caring capacity, either in their own home or in a residential setting.
  • Experience of social alarm or similar equipment within a control centre or other environment.
  • Ability to use modern ICT packages and prioritize emergency calls effectively.
