Assistant Estimator Job Description

CSC Recruitment is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Assistant Estimator to join their pre-construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mind and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for high-end residential refurbishment projects.
  • Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and other documents to understand project requirements.
  • Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labour expenses.
Data Collection and Analysis:
  • Gather and analyze data on all factors that can influence costs, such as materials, labour, and equipment.
  • Maintain a database of cost information and update regularly with current market prices.
Bid Preparation:
  • Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, ensuring all required information is included and presented clearly.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to understand the scope of work and identify any potential challenges.
Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination:
  • Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Develop relationships with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and reliable services.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of all estimates and supporting information.
  • Assist in the preparation of regular reports for senior management on project costs and budget status.
Requirements:
  • A degree or HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Project Management is desirable.
  • Previous experience in estimating, preferably within the high-end residential refurbishment sector, is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal requirements.
